When you’re learning to create something, a drawing, writing, music, you can get stuck in a loop.
You look at the finished piece and don’t like it, because it’s not what you hoped it would be and you get discouraged from trying again, so a long period goes by before you try again and the same thing happens. Even though you know you need regular practice to improve and get to a point where you are happy with a finished piece.
So instead, do this.
When you finish, look at it and say to yourself that is the best I could do today and I look forward to seeing what I can do tomorrow.
Because by tomorrow you will have had more practice and therefore improved, and if you keep repeating that you’ll get there a lot faster then you think.
